Last Week…

The response to last week’s Deeper Dive was strong. I had a number of professionals write in wanting to know if there were other tales of wisdom of having to deal with employees and letting them go. It reminded me of a situation I dealt with a few years ago.

The Case of the Remote Worker

One of the hardest parts of running a large organization is that you may very well have employees and team members spread across a large geographic area. This was the case for me. Our organization had invested a considerable amount of time and talent into areas that were 15 miles away from where my office was. This in itself isn’t a problem, but when your presence is required in multiple locations and there aren’t exactly quick ways to get there, you quickly realize that most of your working time is spent behind the wheel of a car, rather than doing other productive tasks.
