A 12th Century Jack of All Trades lays the foundation for charity
Moses ben Maimon, commonly known as Maimonides, was a Jewish philosopher, theologian, and physician who lived in the 12th century. He is considered one of the most important figures in Jewish intellectual history and is known for his writings on Jewish law, ethics, and philosophy. I first learned about this guy in an ethics in fundraising class I took at The Fund Raising School at Indiana University in Indianapolis. Why? Because his impact on philanthropy cannot be overlooked. We should take some time to explore Maimonides' life and works, and how he influenced the development of philanthropy.
